Djun Djun Drums

Djun-Djuns (or Dununs) are individually carved from a single piece of legally harvested Mahogany hardwood (wood models) or produced from heavy grade fiberglass (to give that authentic african bass drum sound). These drums are created to reproduce the authentic sound of the African bass drum. Since the sound is expected to be heavy, earthy, and deep, the drum heads are made of cow hide with the hair left on. These helps to amplify the lower overtones, while decreasing the higher overtones, giving off the bass sounds that are expected.

These drums are played with a set with sticks. Djun-Djuns are traditionally used as a set of three...The 15" (Dundunba) produces the lowest bass tone; the 12" (Sangban) produces the mid-range tone; and the 10" (Kenkeni) produces the highest tone.
