Western Percussion Group Formed
in 2005, Str*ck
(pronounced as “Struck”) is a 5-female percussion
group which hopes to touch
people through its percussive music. Through its activities, the group
hopes to
create awareness and encourage more people to play percussion.
Str*ck
enjoys playing a wide
range of music. Besides mallets, the group also plays hardcore drum
pieces like
Taiko, which requires extreme coordination between players and insane
technical
ability. Str*ck also plays percussion ensemble classics like Lord of
the Dance
and Marching Season. These classics boast nice, memorable tunes and
require a
good set of percussive abilities. Besides, classical transcripts like
Farandole, Brandenburg Concerto, has been a staple in
Str*ck’s musical diet.
Str*ck has
had one public
performance at Tao’s Restaurant and one public concert at
Young Musicians’
Society (YMS) Auditorium. The girls also put up their own successful
concert
“Mozart on Bars” and won numerous praises.
Moving
forwards, Str*ck
plans to become a locally renowned group through its relentless effort
and
determination.
