The group is the brainchild of Mr. Ngoh Kheng Seng, who is also the group's instructor.
Despite
coming from different background and busy personal committment,
the group comes together for their love in percussion music
playing.
Each of the members are versatile and well trained in different types of instrument, Western, Chinese, latin etc.
To promote music and cultural activities in Singapore, the group seeks every opportunity to perform at public places.
Mostly
recently, the group completed a Chinese New Year performance at the
Causeway Point Shopping Centre held 22 - 25 January 2008.

PerCuz-Shiok!PerCuz-Shiok!
is a local percussion group comprising young
and vibrant individuals. As the name suggests, PerCuz-Shiok! is
dedicated to
making percussion fun for people of all ages. Formed in 2005, its
members are
mostly young percussionists who put their musical talents &
ideas together
and presenting a whole new experience to its audience.
The
group plays a wide variety of percussion, reflecting its
origin as a Singaporean percussion group living in a multi-ethnic
society. Its
percussion ensembles collection includes novelty pieces “Clap
Happy” and
“Stinkin’ Garbage”, Chinese classical
percussion and Western/Latin pieces such
as “Afro-Amero” and “Where the Spirit
Matter”.
PerCuz-Shiok!
believes that music is an integral part of our
lives, and should be an exciting process of discovery of the world. Our
performances emphasize both the audience and performers enjoying
themselves in
the process. In its development work, the group seeks to expose
themselves to a
variety of musical exchanges and work with percussionists around the
world.
The
group has since undertaken several projects reaching out
to people from all works of life. This included performing on Vesak day
at
Suntec City and an educational program at Gongshang Primary School
where
students were exposed to different ways of expressing music through
percussion.
Through
its music, PerCuz-Shiok! seeks to create awareness
of the different sound in our everyday life, and draw attention to the
various
genres of percussion. It hopes to continue to contribute to the
development of
the local arts scene and present myriad faces of percussion music to
all music
lovers.
